What The App Stores
- Lesson progress.
- Practice attempts and completion state.
- Speech rate preference.
Where Data Is Stored
- This information is stored locally on the device.
- Phonema does not operate an app server for version 1.
- Phonema does not create user accounts.
Speech And Microphone
- Phonema requests microphone access only when a learner starts pronunciation practice.
- Speech recognition is handled locally with bundled WhisperKit CoreML assets only when the learner starts the phonics coach.
- Speech output is handled locally with bundled Kokoro CoreML assets.
- Phonema does not send lesson progress, audio, or recognized words to a Phonema server.
What The App Does Not Do
- No ads.
- No third-party analytics.
- No tracking.
- No server SDKs.
- No login or accounts.
- No in-app purchases or subscriptions.
- No social sharing, chat, or leaderboards.
- No sale of personal information.
Children's Privacy
Phonema is designed for guided reading practice. The app is intentionally local-first and does not transmit learner progress, practice history, audio, or device identifiers to third parties.
Deleting Data
Remove the app from the device to delete locally stored Phonema progress and settings.
